More details

The design for this textile was created by Winifred Mold for the Silver Studio in about 1920. Winifred Mold was one of a small number of female designers who worked for the Silver Studio in the 1920s and 30s. She won a prize for designing this fabric, and her colleagues in the Studio had it made into this eiderdown for her. The pattern uses Chinese-inspired birds in scenes with water, rocks, grasses and flowers. The eiderdown has piped edges, and there are further patterns inlaid on the quilt through the stitching.
