Katagami stencil with an all-over design of shokkō patterning (octagons and squares) containing flowers including 16-petal chrysanthemums which resemble the imperial seal and were associated with officials or Shinto priests. The patterning on this stencil, formed by small dots, was created with an awl (kiribori technique). This stencil is of the koban size class (determined by the repeat length).
