More details

Katagami stencil with rectangles containing shokkō patterning (octagons and squares) and checkerboard designs combined with flowers. Around the rectangles is a loose foliate design. Tie bars are used to hold the stencil structure, these would be covered over by paste applied by hand or through another stencil (K2.111) so would not appear on the printed textile. This is the secondary stencil with less fine detail than the primary. This stencil is of the sansun okuri or koban size class (determined by the repeat length).
