Katagami stencil with a design of decorative roundels and scattered flower heads. The decoration within the roundels is unclear, it possibly includes hairy tailed turtles, which is associated with longevity in Japanese mythology. Tie bars are used to hold the stencil structure, these would be covered over by paste applied through another stencil (K2.95) so would not appear on the printed textile. This is the secondary stencil with less detail than the primary. This stencil is of the sansun okuri or koban size class (determined by the repeat length).
