More details

Katagami stencil with a design of interlinked ovals possibly (shippō ), gems which stand for the Seven Treasures. The central motifs within the ovals and the line style of this stencil imitate tie dye and stitch resist techniques (kumo shibori and ori-nui shibori ). There are irregular gaps in the design of the stencil. A fine mesh of supporting threads made of silk is sandwiched between two layers of this stencil. This stencil is of the koban size class (determined by the repeat length).
