More details

Katagami stencil depicting bamboo alongside twisted strips (possibly banners or poem cards) and snowflake roundels. The strips have depictions of wisteria or bush clover on them. The roundels include hemp leaf patterning (asa no ha). The hemp leaf pattern is emblematic of strong growth and sometimes used on babies' and children's garments in this association. Over the top of the hemp leaf patterning are arc-like forms possibly representing fans or waves. There is a generally autumnal-winter theme to the motifs on the stencil. A fine mesh of supporting threads made of silk is sandwiched between two layers of this stencil. This stencil is of the sansun okuri or koban size class (determined by the repeat length).
