More details
This catalogue is promoting flats for rent in Beechcroft Court in Golders Green. The catalogue's illustrations, photographs and modern typography combine to help suggest modernity.
These examples are not overly modern in appearance, unlike some of the other blocks of flats being built at the time. Even so, they still came with all the 'mod-cons' the flat dweller had come to expect: coal fires, gas or electricity, fitted kitchen, tiled bathroom and 'Crittall steel casement windows.'
The popular 'unit' furniture was ideal for these flats. It could be taken with the tenant when they left, but whilst it was in the flat it would look as if it had been specially fitted, giving the sleek modern appearance so necessary for modern living.
