More details

This warp-printed chintz textile was produced in about 1949. Warp-printing is a method in which the warp threads of a textile are printed with a design before the fabric is woven. This printing technique produces a final image that is slightly blurred. In this particular example, the peony flowers and leaves of the chintz motif are softened by this process.
