Sprays of pink, yellow and brown flowers on a dark brown ground

This is a design for a furnishing textile by the Silver Studio from 1892. The heavy, early Art Nouveau design has sprays of pink, yellow and brown flowers on a dark brown ground. The rich dark colours were fashionable at the time. This design suggests the work of Arthur Silver who at the time had been observing eighteenth century Indian chintzes in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
