Art Nouveau roses

This textile design was created by Harry Silver for the Silver Studio in 1908. It was sold to R Dewhurst and Co who used the design on a dress silk. The design is elaborately Art Nouveau, with flattened, stylised flowers and sinuous, curving stems. The pale colours used in the design were fashionable for dress silks in the early twentieth century.
