More details

This wallpaper was designed by the Silver Studio and made by Glasgow-based manufacturer Wylie & Lochead in 1891. This design uses stylised poppy flowers. It became known as the ‘Rokesley Poppy’ paper and was very popular with British consumers in the early 1890s. Wallpaper patterns such as this were fashionable in smart middle-class drawing rooms of the period. Famous designer C F A Voysey produced a similar design called ‘The Tokyo’ in the late nineteenth century.
