This is a design for a printed furnishing textile by R.J. Doughty for the Silver Studio in around 1912. The design features a pattern of stylised roses, leaves, tulips, daisies, checks and spirals, in ochre, dark pink, turquoise blue, white, orange and paler pink, on a brown ground. It is an early example of modern French design being executed in England. The brilliant colours show the influence of the Ballet Russe productions whilst the style of the checks, roses etc are reminiscent of the work of C.R. Mackintosh.
