More details

This is a design for a carpet by Monsieur Dupont in 1929. Dupont was apprenticed at the Silver Studio from 1929 - 1930 and sent some of his work to Rex Silver before arriving in England. This is an example of his work and the pattern consists of abstract palm tree-like shapes, in red, orange, brown, yellow and white, on a brown ground. These colours became 'de rigeur' for cheap English modernist designs in the 1930s.
