More details
This is a design for a trade card probably by Arthur Silver for the Silver Studio in 1891. John Line and Sons had a cabinet-making business in Reading during the 1870s, and doubtless knew Arthur Silver's father. This trade card was intended for their first London Wallpaper showroom which opened in 1892. By the 1920s they had become one of the country's most important wallpaper manufacturers and the Silver Studio were still supplying designs to them in the 1950s.
