A novelty design of hats

This design for a printed textile features all kinds of hats. It was created by one of the Silver Studio's designers in around 1935. 'Novelty' designs such as this were popular for women's dress fabrics in the 1920s and 30s. Patterns that had bright colours on dark backgrounds were seen as particularly stylish. The cheerfulness and energy of this design makes it easy to imagine as fabric for a dress to be worn on holiday.
