Published quarterly by James Pearsall & Co, 'Needle and Thread Magazine' focused on the 'study of fine needle work, treating of stitches, of pattern making, of embroidery in the past and all other subjects of interest to those who would ply daintily needle and thread'. It contained illustrated features on specific topics, for example 'An Embroidered Tray Cloth', 'Summer Flowers in Gobelin Stitch' and 'The Management of Thread' as well as more general practical articles of relevant advertisements. This publication replaced 'Embroidery' magazine. MoDA holds three editions of 'Needle and Thread Magazine': January, April and July 1914 (Nos. 1-3).
