A history of everyday things in England

This cover shows how pictorial devices can be both decorative and meaningful. Using a chain motif, the designer has implied a physical link between each of the characters holding the chain, as well as a psychological and visual reference to women’s suffrage. It also creates a way use illustrations to frame the title of the book.
