More details
Although they are now predominantly used for leisure and tourism, the canal remains a reminder of Britain’s industrial heritage. The combination of medium and subject in this cover create a link to the past. The woodcut medium used on this cover has its roots in medieval printmaking. The canal and barge are symbolic of a bygone industrial age and the leisure pursuits which have replaced it. In all, the combination of these images and techniques create a mood of nostalgia and reminiscing.
