The Great Vance refers to Alfred Vance (stage name, real name Alfred Peek Stevens) (1839-1888), who was a Cokney singer who branched into comedy. Verso has a lithographic print of a large bottle of Moselle with a male human's legs, arms and head, dancing on the deck of a ship with a female.
