This book about the work of John Piper, was published in 1944 as part of the Penguin Modern Painters series. It contains colour illustrations of his work and was written by the British poet and broadcaster John Betjeman. Piper was a friend of Betjeman and in the 1930s they collaborated on and were editors of the British guidebook series, the Shell Guides. This book is part of the reference collection of the graphic designer Charles Hasler.
