More details

Bowman's was a large furniture shop in Camden Town. It sold top-end furniture for fans of the modern look. There was an emphasis on unit, made-to-measure and fitted furniture ranges in this catalogue. The shop appealed to city dwellers with small flats but money for fitting them out. The marketing of Bowmans is interesting. Their catalogue covers were designed by some of the most interesting commercial artists of the period. The striking cover of this one is designed by Barnett Freedman, a commercial artist also known for his poster designs for London Transport.
