Helix – in purple, yellow and white colourway

This is a wallpaper sample titled 'Helix', featuring a design of trailing ivy in stripes, in purple and yellow on a white ground. This wallpaper was designed by Alan Shillingford in 1960 for Allan Cockshut's screen-printed 'Hayward' collection which was produced in competition with Lightbown Aspinall's market- leading Palladio range. Speaking about his work as a designer, Alan Shillingford explained how this design was developed from a drawing he did of a plant that was in the design studio where he worked.
