This is an instruction card for the delightfully named New World cooker. It includes information on how to use this model of gas cooker, plus details of how to clean it, position the runners and the type of food it could be used to cook. This card lets us know that the cooker was 'regulo-controlled.' The 'regulo' was the thermostatic dial that controlled the heat level in the oven. Introduced in the 1920s the thermostat-controlled flue oven designed for these cookers became a standard in gas cooker design. Gas ovens today still use a similar system. In order to help housewives new to cooking with gas, cookbooks were published by most manufacturers.
