More details
This is a supplement from Homes and Gardens magazine, entitled ‘Living with Books.’ It was published in about 1965.
The cover image shows a stylish 1960s living room. Brilliant white emulsion was a new and fashionable way to decorate walls. The matching furniture used in this room is low and plain, and was a popular style in the early part of the decade. Carpet is used to cover the floor, with a beige shag pile rug placed centrally. The ceiling is low and wood panelled.
All together, these design elements create the clean, modern look that design-conscious consumers aspired to in the early 1960s.
