More details

Vi-Spring claimed to have been the first to make individually pocket-sprung beds. The company made mattresses for a 'better class' of buyer - their clients were London's best clubs and hotels and luxury liners such as the Queen Mary and the Titanic. Customers were clearly concerned about health, and the hygienic aspect of these Vi-Spring mattresses is stressed in this catalogue; they are 'healthful, comfortable and durable'. In the 1930s, cheaper mattresses were still stuffed with rags and so, Vi- Spring suggest, would not provide enough support or be clean or comfortable.
