'The Laws of Contrast of Colour' was written by the French chemist ME Chevreul in 1861. The book aimed to set out French design principles, particularly in relation to colour, in order to influence designers, workmen and others concerned with the production of decorative art. This New Edition published in 1868 is illustrated with seventeen colour plates, plus several other diagrams. It also contains a 'Preface' written by the translator, John Spanton.
