Art & utility in gas fittings: No. 326

This catalogue of light fittings was produced in London in 1911. Most British homes at the turn of the century still used gas lighting. Wall lights such as this were fixed to either side of the fireplace. They were recommended for use in drawing rooms and studies because they created a more pleasant effect than one central pendant.
