“Claydon”

This woven rayon and lurex textile, ‘Claydon’, was designed by Karin Williger for Warner and Sons Ltd in 1956. This fabric was featured in Design magazine in May 1956 as an example of a modern design that did not follow popular design ideas about patterns and colours in the 1950s. The article noted that ‘abstract patterns need not be austerely geometric but can embody all the colours and textures that exist in nature.’
