Macself was editor of Amatuer Gardening magazine from 1926 to 1946. The topics covered included decoration with flowers, everlasting flowers, room and window plants, vegetables for the home, storing vegetables, recipes, pickles, herbs, home grown fruits, bee keeping and rearing poultry.
