More details
'Houses' is the second book in the Penguin Books 'Things We See' Series. It was written in 1947 by Lionel Brett, architect, planner, writer and later president of the Royal Institute of British Architects. The note to the reader states 'This book contains a collection of photographs of modern English homes, some good, some decent, some frankly bad. The latter, unfortunately, make up far too great a portion of The Things We See. The author, in his choice of illustrations and his text, attempts, like the other writers in this series, to make us critically aware of our surroundings.'
