This is a black and white photograph of a Crown wallpaper shop around 1950. The photograph is of the wallpaper section, with wallpaper samples on moving racks and rows of paint tins on shelves below. As the retail trade grew at the expense of the decorators' trade, shop fronts and displays became an important way of attracting custom.
