Chinoiserie tropical birds and foliage

This wallpaper was designed by the Silver Studio for London-based manufacturer John Line & Sons in about 1928. After the First World War, some British designers took their inspiration from countries in the East. Chinese-influenced ‘chinoiserie’ patterns such as this often featured exotic blossoms and birds that were adapted to suit contemporary British tastes.
