More details
Walter Crane was an illustrator, particularly known for his work on children’s books. He also designed wallpapers, which often included characters from fairy tales, such as this design inspired by the story of sleeping beauty. As an illustrator of children’s books Crane returned to the theme of sleeping beauty throughout his career. A sample of this wallpaper was exhibited at the International Health Exhibition, London, 1884 by the manufacturer Jeffrey and Co. At the exhibition the company sought to promote both their ‘Artisitic wall papers (free from Arsenic)' and also their "Jeffrey & Co.'s Patent Hygienic wall papers’.
