Flute

'Flute' wallpaper sample, designed by Edward Bawden for Cole & Son Ltd, 1938-9. This wallpaper appeared in exhibitions to promote British design, such as the 'Britain Can Make It' exhibition from September to November 1946 at the V&A Museum, and the ‘Design from Britain’ exhibition in Oslo in 1952-3. The idea of these post-war exhibitions was to encourage people at home and in other countries to buy British-designed goods.
