More details

This design for a dress silk features brightly coloured poppies, buttercups and bluebells. It was designed by Edwin Parker, one of the Silver Studio’s employees, in 1927. A handwritten note by Rex Silver on the bottom of the paper notes that, "the broad leaves are inclined to be rather clumsy - daintiness and delicacy is the essence of a successful dress pattern". All of the Studio’s designers worked to instructions from Rex Silver. His job was to understand the technical and aesthetic requirements of the Studio's clients, who were textile and wallpaper manufacturers. He frequently provided criticism and comment on the design work produced by Silver Studio employees.
