More details
The title of this design is most likely a reference to Great Bardfield in Essex, home to a community of artists, designers and illustrators including Edward Bawden. Bawden had taught Walter Hoyle, the designer of this wallpaper, at the Royal College of Art. Many of the designers for the Palladio range, which sought to reinvigorate wallpaper design in post war Britain, studied under Bawden.
