Colour music sheet cover titled 'Stabat Mater'. Music composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1877. Unknown publisher. This version published 1950s. Stabat Mater, or the Sorrowful Mother, is music based on the 13th century Latin hymn of the same name that was composed by an Italian Friar, Jacopane de Todi and based on the suffering of the Virgin Mary at the crucifixion. Dvorak, a Czech composer, wrote the music after losing his own children. Colour 1950s music sheet. Mounted on paper. Shows a sorrowful Virgin Mary to the left. Her arms are crossed and held to her chest and she is looking down. Dressed in a multi-colour hooded robe. To the right is a multicolour cross with the body of Christ, his head not visible. Top left has the composer's name. Lower left has the name of the piece of work.
