Reproduced music cover sheet for 'O, Come With Me To The Fountain, Love!'. Possibly reproduced circa 1978. Original was a lithographic design by Robert Jacob Hamerton and composed by Henry Walker. Published by Ashdown & Parry, London. 1859. Depicts title at the top 'O, COME WITH ME TO THE FOUNTAIN, LOVE!'. With large black and white lithograph image below of a man and woman standing to one side on the foreground, with the man holding an arm out behind him pointing to the fountain. Background shows a water fountain set within some railings and a large crowd in front. Below text reads 'TEETOTAL BALLAD, / DEDICATED TO SAMUEL GURNEY ESQ. M.P. / Written & Composed by / HENRY WALKER.' The first public drinking fountain opened in London in Holborn by the railings of St Sepulchre Without Newgate in 1859, largely due to the efforts of Samuel Gurney. Verso shows the music cover for 'We all get jolly as the night wears on', showing a man with a cigar in one hand and a glass of wine in another. Composed by John Stamford and designed by Alfred Concanen.
