Engraved music cover for 'The Lancer's Quadrilles' or 'Duval (of Dublin)'s Second Set'. By John Duval with a dance by Signor Spagnoletti. Published by J.Willis & Company, London, 1817. This cover was published after a ball held by the Countess of Farnham in April 1817, and features the quadrilles that were danced there, including one called 'La Dorset' by Spagnoletti, and named after the Duchess of Dorset. Cover sheet shows a man in military uniform astride a horse and carrying a sword. Printed text 'The / LANCER'S QUADRILLES, / or Duval (of Dublin's)'s Second Set / Seventh Edition.' Followed by list of five dances in French, continuing with 'AS DANCED AT AMLACK'S, LONDON / & at the Rotunda Dublin / to which is added A new Walz by Sig. Spagnoletti. / and the / Stop Waltz, / Respectfully dedicated to the / COUNTESS OF FAREHAM.' With printer's information below and printer's signature to ensure that this is a genuine copy.
