This wallpaper features a design of leaves and fruit in muted shades of brown, grey and orange. Although difficult to see here, there is also a fine gold web pattern that gives the paper a textured affect.
This wallpaper was used to redecorate the drawing room of a property on Mersea Island in Essex in the late 1920s - 30s. The design here is more similar to the busy, dark patterns that were popular in the late 1800s than the clean, light designs of the 1930s. The homeowner was born in 1877 and so had Victorian tastes, which meant that the house was furnished and decorated in a slightly old-fashioned and cluttered style.
